David Blakey Jr. is the Republican candidate for Washington County Constable, Precinct Three.
David began his law enforcement career in 1985 by attending the TEEX Law Enforcement Academy. He then worked part-time for the Burton Police Department while attending Blinn College. In 1988, David joined the Brenham Police Department as a patrol officer and in 1990 was hired by Washington County Sheriff Billy Rosenbaum as a patrol deputy, continuing his employment under Sheriff J.W. Jankowski. He joined the Bellville Police Department in 1999. He obtained the rank of Lieutenant and served as Assistant and Interim Chief. David left the Bellville Police Department in 2008 to join his family's land surveying business, Blakey Land Surveying. He has continued his law enforcement career however, by working part-time with the Austin County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy and Law Enforcement Trainer.
During his career, David has completed extensive training from the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas, including the completion of the Command Staff Leadership Series. He has also completed advanced training for command and general staff in the Incident Command System from FEMA and the US Department of Homeland Security. David holds a Master Peace Officers License with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement as well as being a Law Enforcement Instructor, Fire Arms Instructor and Crisis Intervention Instructor.
David has played an active role in many local and state organizations including being a board member to Crime Stoppers and was a voting delegate to the Texas Radio Coalition representing Region 16, Houston-Galveston Area Council, for state wide public safety communications and interoperability. David is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rehburg where he is currently serving as Council President. He is also very proud to have earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and has served as a Scout Master.
David believes that as our county grows, so will crime. Constables can be a valuable asset in deterring and fighting crime. Constables are fully licensed peace officers that have the same powers of arrest as any other police officer, deputy sheriff or state officer. As Constable, David will utilize his full time law enforcement experience and training to patrol the precinct and county, and assist other local and state agencies. He believes that visibility and community policing is, and has always been, the key to crime prevention.
David will do more than just serve court documents and perform bailiff duties. He will randomly patrol the precinct and county, and will be visible to the public.
He will be Your Working Constable!
David is a lifelong resident of Washington County and resides in the Rehburg Community with his wife, Suzy. Their daughter Caitlyn is a junior at Texas A&M University and their son Joshua is employed in the energy exploration field.
