Candice Bullock
County Commissioner Precinct 2
Bullock said her principal focus, if elected, will be working diligently to achieve an equitable balance for Washington County while navigating the many challenges associated with the inevitable growth of our community. Fostering the rural values and quality of life that is so highly treasured locally will be a steadfast priority, she added.

"I have known Candice for most of her life. She is a very energetic, smart and professional businesswoman," said Mike Brannon, CEO of local business Premier Metals. "I enthusiastically support Candice Bullock for Precinct Two Commissioner and know that she will do great things for Washington County as well as the State of Texas for a long time to come."

Bullock recently celebrated her 10-year service anniversary with local business Hi-Line Industries as a project manager where she developed many of her professional skills.

"I have had exposure to most of the technical aspects of metal fabrication, construction, and engineering, visited customer field operations, made on-site sales calls and have learned the importance of ask, listen and learn," said Bullock.

"I firmly believe that my education, career experiences and level of responsibilities have prepared me to bring a visionary yet conservative outlook, translatable knowledge and fresh energy to the commissioner position. Throughout my career, at Hi-Line I have not only managed millions of dollars in customer projects for the likes of Emerson, Hirschfeld, Dow and Halliburton, but I have built many lasting relationships.

"Leading meetings with our customers' management and engineering teams have been a routine requirement for my position. I largely focus on the financial aspects of each customer's job through estimating and controlling project costs while also evaluating the various industry standard specifications and keeping projects on schedule."

Bullock, who is the former Candice Kocian, moved from the Cypress-Fairbanks area to rural Washington County in 1994 with her family shortly after her father moved his Houston-based manufacturing business, PI Components Corp., to Brenham.

She graduated from Brenham High School in 1999, where she was an accomplished multi-sport athlete and three-year captain while leading the Cubette soccer team.

After graduation, Bullock accepted a soccer scholarship to Baylor University, where she remained until she chose to transfer to Texas State University to continue her academics and soccer career.

"Playing collegiate soccer while pursuing my degree, I learned to overcome adversity as a result of multiple knee injuries," she said. "However, those hurdles taught me to be even more tenacious, strong of mind and to always persist in the pursuits of life and career.

"These life lessons, coupled with my business experiences have prepared me for public service and I look forward to applying these skills as Precinct 2 Commissioner. I look forward to meeting with the voters throughout the county and together grow a trust and connection that will allow Washington County to set and realize the many goals essential for our continued mutual benefit."

Bullock received a bachelor of science degree with a minor in business from Texas State University, then worked in Austin for two years before moving back to Washington County in 2007.

She married Chris Bullock, a Washington County native, in 2009 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in 2009, where they are active members and have since added two sons to their family, Austin, 7; and Henry, 3.

Doug Peck, Washington County resident and professor at Blinn College, will serve as campaign treasurer for Bullock.

"I am honored to assist Candice with her campaign," said Peck. "I admire her as a leader of this generation, willing to step up and accept this level of civic responsibility. Here is a candidate that combines business experience, hometown understanding and deferential character, making her uniquely suited for this position."
